Suggestion: More BT Map Intel in the Frontier
2 replies · 55 views
Objective:
Provide reasonable intel for players on the BT Map to find action faster and avoid zergs or larger groups to mitigate ganking.
Idea:
BT Map shows something like a heat map or symbols in real time of activity/action happening. The bigger the player count or amount of participants in a fight, the more visible it is.
For example, a 30 player zerg shows a large blip on the map moving in real time.
Players in smaller groups have intel to get out of the way and avoid the fight, other zergs can beeline for them for a fight.
For stealth zergs, a larger radius can be used on the map to obfuscate exactly where the stealthers are, making it hard for a player to track them down exactly but easy enough for players to avoid.
Intel can also be limited depending on the size of the group.
For example solos and duos might be able to track full groups on the map. Full groups may only be able to see locations where fights broke out and where zergs are active, etc.

Sounds like a form of radar. Im against it.
Not a great idea really.
Daoc has always benefited from the social aspect of talking in zone chats or in bartlegroups using intel. This would basically remove this classic daoc feel.
Also, if this idea was even slightly good, may as well go the whole hog and introduce instanced duels like eden did. Fun to a point, sure, but definitely not classic feeling daoc.
