Cut back on Visur locations

Hiya folks,

Controversial opinion, perhaps, but I feel a bit of classic travel adds some healthy friction, increases the stakes of wiping, keeps horse routes relevant, etc.
Currently, Visurs are plentiful and easy to unlock. You get lazy very quickly, warping from one part of a zone to another to save few a few seconds jogging.
I think we could cut back on the amount of teleport locations, or gate them in some meaningful way, without being worse off.

Taking Albion as an example;
The only zones without a Visur are Lyonesse and Dartmoor, both a short walk away from the nearest Visur.
Many zones even have multiple Visur locations, e.g. Campacorentin Forest having one at Campacorentin Station and at Caer Ulfwych.

Cutting back Visurs to only be in:
  • Camelot (capitol)
  • Snowdonia Fortress, Castle Sauvage (border keeps)
  • Caer Witrin

Leaves you within 2 zones of the entire realm.
If that's considerd too harsh, another on Snowdonia Station and Caer Ulfwych grant quite a bit of extra coverage.

Alternatively, making Visurs more difficult to unlock, e.g. a significant gold cost or gating them behind an account progression system, could also be an option.
You have to run to them once. That's enough, thanks.
I haven't a strong opinion for or against. I do think riding horses is much more classic then just getting to places instantly.
The horses are quite fast here so its not even that bad.

And if i'm not mistaken, there's a loyalty/standing trait for faster horse routes, that might have more weight if using horses was more a thing to get around.

Oh and another eample is Avalon March there's one at Adribards, then at the purple portal thing next to the horse master is one to, and another one at caer withrin :p

Porter in the usual locations have been a staple of DAoC and all Freeshards for years now.
Removing a base-level QoL feature would harm the server more than the 5min nostalgia feeling will create for people forced to ride a horse.

It wastes people time. Respecting the player's time is important and artifical time wasting mechanics like forced slow as horse routes that require 30min pre-planned riding from Sauvage to arrive for a Dragon Raid is exactly the wrong type of "classic feeling".

Keep in mind i50 beta has free money. Those ports are pretty pricey for what they are. Won't be a problem long-term, but that will add up at server launch for a while. It allows people to move fast when it's worth dumping cash, but still make in-game travel the default. At least for a while.

I suppose we'll see when we know the endgame economy actually looks like.
