Crafting XP cap and fall-off

Recently the cap on XP you can gain per level has been lifted, but has the XP rewards drop off once you're past the cap.
Crafting XP being fairly competitive, especially before you hit the cap for that level and growing lacklustre after, creates this scenario where you can spend a few platinum buying a pile of materials, queue up 500 crafts and go AFK for literal hours.
It's very expensive, it's limited (crafts go grey -> no xp), but it's extremely lazy and non-interactive.
I leveled 44-46 with the single click of a button while AFK at work.
Not sure this entirely healthy to have as an option.

Now, the presence of an NPC that happily hands out a hundred platinum heavily exacerbates this issue, but I'd like to raise it regardless.

A hard cap, or a harsher fall-off (preferably accompanied by a message e.g. "you've nigh exhausted the knowledge you can gain from crafting for this level and receive reduced xp", might be warranted.
You can also just talk to an NPC and be level 50

As you said it's very expensive and that won't be available to the large majority. Those that it is available to either won't be willing to pay the price or aren't going to care about leveling enough characters. Those that will level multiple characters will either do it very quickly to get into RvR or are those that mostly just PvE meaning the leveling journey is important to them not the destination. Leveling via crafting is ridiculously slow.

Furthermore you stop getting xp when the item is grey so you can't do as you suggest and just go to sleep and come back 5 levels higher
