Our goal is to enhance crafting so that it:
- Is doable and useful at lower levels.
- Encourages crafters to help other players.
- Provides some alternative to traditional leveling.
These changes should not have any effects on level 50 templates.
Account Wide
- Crafting is account wide.
How Salvaging Works
- You can salvage immediately, at any level.
- What material type you get for salvaging depends on the secondary skill associated with that salvage type. For example, a player without any metalworking that salvages an arcanium weapon will not get arcanium bars.
- You can salvage while moving. Need to cancel your salvage, unsheath your weapon.
- You can use the /craft window to choose or multiselect what you want to salvage.
- You can use the
/salvage X-Ycommand to salvage all the applicable items in those bags. For example/salvage 1-3would salvage all items in bags 1, 2 and 3.
Enhancing / Item Ranks (Pre-51 Gear)
This system does not effect level 50 gear or higher, so it has no effect on level 50 templating. TODO:
This system is intended to help supplement a player’s items while leveling, make crafted items viable for leveling, and reward crafters for helping their realm mates.
When you craft an item and a player uses that item, the item will gain XP.
- An item has 3 ranks it can achieve.
- Each rank increases the quality of the item by 1.
- Each rank increases the level of the item by 1.
- Each rank gives the crafter 1 skillup in their crafting line (this is subject to the items level vs the crafter’s current skill level, so you can’t craft a bunch of level 1 items and get to LGM).
- TODO: Do ranks give the USER XP?
- After reaching the max rank, an item will receive a random stat bonus.
How Enhancement Works
TODO: Currently being revamped
Crafting XP
When crafting an item, the item's level is compared to your character level and used as a baseline for the XP you get, capped at yellow. In simple terms, if you are level 40 and crafted a level 40+ item, it would be like killing a yellow con mob.,
Players under level 20, in respect to the above, get the XP of a green con mob.,
Players under 40, in respect to above, get the XP of a blue con mob.,
In order to get any XP, the item's con to your tradeskill level cannot be grey.,
The XP of crafting an item is multiplied, up or down, based on much slower/faster it is compared to our baseline. The baseline is compared to the crafting speed after the increase in time from tiers (100, 200, etc) has been factored out. The minimum and maximum that this multiplier can be is capped (50%-300%), to prevent potential unintended consequences.,
- Example, you craft a dagger, which is relatively fast, and get 83% of the baseline XP for the item.
- Example, you craft a bow, which is fairly long, and get 233% of the baseline XP for the item.
Crafting Quests (NPC Vendors)
Various armor and weapon vendors in the world will keep a stock of player made items. Talk to them to see what they need and help supply the realm!
- Gain a stacking buff that awards you extra craft skillups for supplying vendors.
- Players that buy your gear and use it can rank it up, providing you more bonuses (see previous section).
