Overview
Ethereal Orbs are a unique currency system in Thidranki that allows players to generate new equipment through combat activities. These magical orbs can be obtained by defeating enemies and are at risk when you die, creating a dynamic risk-reward economy within the battleground.
Obtaining Ethereal Orbs
Drop Rates by Enemy Difficulty
Regular ethereal orbs drop based on the challenge level of your target:
Con Level | Drop Chance |
Grey (-3) | No drops |
Green (-2) | Very low chance |
Blue (-1) | Low chance |
Yellow (0) | Moderate chance |
Orange (+1) | Good chance |
Red (+2) | High chance |
Purple (+3) | Very high chance |
Rare Ethereal Orb Availability
Rare orbs provide higher quality items but are significantly more difficult to obtain. They follow similar scaling to regular orbs but with much lower base rates across all difficulty levels.
Special Enemy Bonuses
- Guards: Substantially increased chance to drop rare orbs
- Keep Lords: Guaranteed to drop multiple rare orbs of each type
Orb Types
There are three categories of ethereal orbs, each generating specific equipment types:
Orb Type | Item Generated |
Ethereal Orb of Jewelry | Magical accessories (rings, necklaces, etc.) |
Ethereal Orb of Armor | Class-appropriate armor pieces |
Ethereal Orb of Weaponry | Class-appropriate weapons |
Each type also has a rare variant that produces higher quality items.
Death Penalty
Important: Ethereal orbs are dropped from your inventory upon death.
This creates a high-risk, high-reward environment where:
- Killing enemy players allows you to claim their orbs
- Dying causes you to lose all orbs in your inventory
- Orbs drop as lootable objects on the ground
Exchanging Orbs for Items
Orb Conjurer NPCs

- A new item of the same type will be generated
Item Quality
Orb Type | Quality Range |
Regular Ethereal Orb | Good quality (90%+) |
Rare Ethereal Orb | Excellent quality (94%+) |
All generated items are:
- Bound to your character's level
- Appropriate for your class and spec
- Tradeable
- Set at minimum price (1 copper)
