Multi Spec

A new command is added which allows the user to easily transition between multiple specs.
The process saves your keybinds and UI layout for multiple specs and allows you to log out to swap between them.

Here’s how to use it.
  1. Type /spec show | list | info to show you the details of your specs
  1. Type /spec swap to switch to your other spec.
    1. This command will log out your character and drop all buffs you have.
Log back in to complete the process.

Overview

The Multi Spec System allows players to maintain multiple specialization configurations on a single character, complete with preserved keybinds and UI layouts. This advanced feature enables tactical flexibility by letting you switch between different builds without losing your carefully crafted setups.

How Multi Spec Works

Every character automatically receives two specialization slots by default:
Spec #1: Your current specialization configuration
  • Contains your normal specialization point distribution and realm abilities.
  • Preserves your current keybinds and UI layout
  • Set as the default active specification
Spec #2: A clean slate configuration
  • All specializations and realm abilities reset to minimum values
  • Provides a fresh starting point for alternative builds
  • Ready for customization when you're prepared to create a new build

Spec Storage System

Each specification slot maintains:
  • Specialization Points: Complete distribution across all skill lines
  • Realm ability points: Complete distribution across all RAs
  • Keybind Configuration: All ability and spell hotkey assignments
  • UI Layout: Interface positioning and customization
  • Character State: All spec-related character data

Activation Process

1. Command Initiation Use /spec swap to begin the switching process.
2. Confirmation Dialog The system presents a warning dialog confirming your intent to change specifications, as this action requires disconnecting from the game.
3. Automatic Logout Upon confirmation, your character will automatically log out to the character selection screen. All your buffs will be dropped to prevent abuse of different specs.
4. Reconnection Log back in with the same character to complete the specification change.
5. New Configuration Active Your character will load with the selected specification, including all associated keybinds and UI settings.

Location Requirements

  • Combat Restrictions: Cannot initiate spec changes during active combat

Limitations and Considerations

System Constraints

Realm Abilities
  • Each spec has its own realm abilities, but your cooldowns are shared amongst specs. This prevents players from abusing the system to get more uses out of timer RAs. Realm abilities only cooldown when you are online and have the realm ability trained. This is to prevent a player from using two completely different sets of RAs and switching specs every 30 minutes. However, any RA will reset regardless of whether you are online after 4 hours. This should be long enough to prevent any abuse and remove the need to leave your game running if you are going to log off.
Logout Requirement
  • All spec changes require disconnection and reconnection
  • Cannot switch specs during active gameplay sessions
  • All buffs are dropped from you when switching specs.
Character Binding
  • Specs are bound to individual characters
  • Cannot transfer specs between different characters

Troubleshooting

Common Issues

UI/Keybind Problems After Switch
  • The first time you use it your new spec’s UI will look like the default. You can copy your old spec’s UI and rename it to the new spec’s UI to make a consistent UI between specs.
  • Report any issues for investigation!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I have different RAs in each spec?
A: Yes, but see below.
Q: Can I use Purge in one spec, then switch to another and use it there?
A: No, all realm ability timers are shared between specs, so purge will be on cooldown in your second spec.
Q: Can I spec full into buffs, buff myself, then switch specs to a spec without those buffs?
A: No, all buffs are dropped when you switch specs.
Q: How many spec slots do I have? A: Every character starts with 2 spec slots, with potential for expansion based on server configuration.
Q: Can I copy one spec to another slot? A: Currently, each spec must be individually configured through normal respec processes.
Q: Will my equipment change when I switch specs? A: No, equipment remains the same. Only specialization points, keybinds, and UI settings change.
Q: Can I switch specs anywhere in the game? A: You can initiate the switch anywhere, but the logout location affects the logout process.
Q: What happens if I disconnect during a spec change? A: The system should maintain integrity, but log back in to verify the change completed properly.
