Thanks to a very successful cooperation between Blackthorn and the OpenDAoC development team, we are proud to introduce some brand new features:
Automated Style Chaining
Styles will automatically attempt to use their pre-requisite styles in the appropriate order if they required. This feature is enabled on Blackthorn.
Example 1:
Blizzard Blade on a Valewalker
Example 2:
Creeping Death on an Infiltrator
Backup Style System
What is Backup Style?
The Backup Style system automatically executes a designated combat style when your primary style attempts fail. This creates smoother combat flow by eliminating the need to manually trigger backup attacks. This can feature can be used in conjunction with the Automated Style Chaining.
Basic Commands
Command | Description |
/backupstyle set | Your next style will be saved as the backup style for your current weapon configuration. |
/backupstyle clear | Clears the backup style for your current weapon configuration. |
/backupstyle print | Lists all of your backup styles and their weapon configurations. |
/backupstyle clear all | Clears all your backup styles. |
Active Weapon Configuration:
The backup style system lets you set a backup style for each applicable weapon configuration, but what does that mean?
An extreme example, a Warrior could set up a backup style for:
- 1h / Shield, using a Sword
- 1h / Shield, using a Hammer
- 1h / Shield, using an Axe
- 2h Sword
- 2h Hammer
- 2h Axe
Most classes and specs will use only one or two backup styles. For example an Armsman would probably have an anytime backup for Polearm, and an anytime backup for Slash, so that when he switches between using his polearm or sword and board a backup style would work.
Dual Wielders:
Using the 2h weapon slot and an offhand weapon is treated the same as the right hand slot and an offhand weapon, so you cannot make a unique backup for each. However you can make a backup style for dual wielding and one for using a 1h weapon and a shield.
Setting Up Backup Styles
Step 1: Initiate Setup
/backupstyle setThe system will prompt you that your next style use will be recorded.
Step 2: Execute Your Style
Use the combat style you want as your backup. This style will now automatically execute when primary styles fail to meet their requirements.
Note: The primary style you use must be valid for the weapons you are using. If you try to use a Slash style but have Thrust weapons equipped, it will not use your Thrust backup styles.
Automatic Execution
Once set, your backup style will automatically trigger when:
- Your primary style fails its requirements
- The style you are trying to use costs too much endurance, but your backupstyle costs less.
