Darkness Falls

On Blackthorn, our goal is to make Darkness Falls the epicenter of high risk, high reward exploration and a true focal point of the server. Darkness Falls will offer the best experience in the game, but at a constant risk. To support that, we’ve introduced several new systems:

DF Medallions of Passage

Available at border keeps, new medallions can be purchased for 5 Daemon Diamond Seals. These allow you to port into Darkness Falls even if your realm does not currently own it.

Experience Bonus

Darkness Falls offers the best XP bonus in the game at 50%.

Daemon Treasurers

New NPCs have been added to every DF merchant room. They allow you to exchange your Emerald, Sapphire, and Diamond seals for each other, making farming and progression more flexible. Right click them to convert to the seal of your choosing.

Recovered DF Drops

Mobs in DF now have a 5% chance to drop “Recovered” versions of DF merchant items. This system creates a new way to discover and progress valuable equipment while adventuring in Darkness Falls.
Recovered item drops will always be class specific and intelligently matched to the character who receives them:
  • Class and realm-specific
  • Matches your best armor type
  • Matches your available weapons

The item's starting level is the higher of your character's level or the minimum level for that Seal tier, and the item can level up until the max:
  • Recovered Emerald items: min 20 to max 36
  • Recovered Sapphire items: min 30 to max 44
  • Recovered Diamond items: min 40 to max 49
For example, a Level 35 character receiving a Recovered Sapphire item will receive it at Level 35. A Level 25 character receiving a Sapphire item will receive it at Level 30.
Recovered items initially drop in a dormant state. A Crafter can enhance the item using 5 matching Seals:
  • Recovered Emerald item → requires 5 Emerald Seals
  • Recovered Sapphire item → requires 5 Sapphire Seals
  • Recovered Diamond item → requires 5 Diamond Seals

After enhancement, qualifying kills anywhere in the world will cause the Recovered item to level (up to the max defined above), advancing its stats and procs. Every time the item gains an item level, the Crafter who enhanced it receives experience and craft skill points. Unused (unequipped) Recovered items salvage for 25% of their normal salvage value. However, once you actually use a Recovered item, it enters the normal wear-based salvage progression, allowing its salvage value to increase normally as it is used. Note: this does not alter the normal salvage values of purchasing a DF item off the merchant directly and salvaging it for full value.

Seal Enhancing

You can enhance an item using Seals in DF which will double the enhancement bonuses. Crafting merchants & stations have been added to DF. See our enhancing page for more information about enhancing in general.
