Time Trials

Time Trials

Time Trials are timed challenges for you and your group: clear every monster in a dungeon as fast as you can. Each attempt takes place in your own instanced copy of the dungeon, and the fastest times go on that trial’s leaderboard. Beat the medal targets to earn gold, silver or bronze.

Trials and their mechanics

Each trial changes how the game plays while you’re in it, so every trial is a different challenge.
The current trial is Nisse’s Lair, open to all three realms. Its mechanic is melee cleave: your melee hits also strike nearby monsters, so pulling more of them at once clears the dungeon faster.
More trials are coming, each with its own dungeon and its own mechanics.

How to take part

The Time Trials Portal in Nailten, Midgard

  1. Go to your realm’s Time Trials Portal: Avalon Marsh (Albion), Nailten (Midgard) or Shannon Estuary (Hibernia). A Time Trial Guide stands at each one.
  1. Talk to the guide. The Time Trials window lists the trials open to you, with their rules, medal targets and leaderboard, and shows whether everyone in your group is ready.
  1. Your group leader presses Enter trial. Everyone must be alive, out of combat and nearby.
  1. Run into the portal. The clock starts when the first member of your group arrives. If nobody enters within 10 minutes, the trial is cancelled.
  1. Complete the objective. Your progress shows in your journal, and BTMap marks every remaining monster with a red dot.
  1. Leave. Once the trial ends, type /timetrial leave to return to where you started.

Good to know

  • Your group is fixed once the trial starts. You can’t invite players while inside a trial, or invite someone who’s in one.
  • Went linkdead or left by accident? While the run is still going, talk to a guide and press Return, or type /timetrial return.
  • Can’t find the last few monsters? The leader can type /timetrial finish to end early. Each monster left adds a time penalty.
  • Abandoned runs aren’t ranked. That includes the whole group leaving early, or a server restart.
