We’re excited to introduce two new systems that work hand-in-hand together, the Resource Collection and Keep Reforging Systems, new features that allow players to reforge items inside realm-owned keeps to create stronger and more customizable gear.
Keep Reforging
Keep Reforging is the process of a depositing a template item + a list of resources at a designated keep to completely customize the stats on that item.
How it Works:
Go to a keep in the frontier and either right click the keep lord or type
/reforge . Our custom Blackthorn Reforging UI will open.
To place your reforge order, you’ll need the following:
- Your deposited original item from your inventory
- Resources that must be gathered from the frontier (see Resource Collection below)
- A crafter with the required crafting skill for your particular item to begin the reforging process
- You to select, up to 10 lines, custom stats in the Blackthorn UI
When you are ready to select your reforged item’s custom stats, our custom UI will guide you:

You can use any keep to reforge items, but the “active” zone keep(s) will reforge much faster. Type
/realm to see which zone is active:- Active Zone Keeps: 8 hour reforge duration (or 4 hours if it has a relic)
- NON-Active Zone Keeps: 16 hours reforge duration (or 8 hours if it has a relic)
Note: After your reforge order starts, you can return and deposit additional resources to speed up the above timers by 15 min per extra resource deposited.
Other notes on reforging:
- The crafter who initiates your reforge order must be the correct trade and tradeskill to reforge your item. All tradeskill requirements are your items level X 20.
- For example, if you are reforging a Level 50 Great Hammer, you must have a Weaponcrafter with Weaponcrafting greater than or equal to 1000 to initiate reforging.
- The utility of your original item is the maximum allowable utility on your reforged item
- The number of stat slots on your original item do not matter. Your final reforged item may contain up to 10 stat slots.
When the reforging timer finishes, you can return to the keep to retrieve your new and improved item.
Benefits of Reforging an Item:
- Customized stats on any item. You can use up to 10 stat lines.
- Increased proc/charge power:
- Proc chance on reforged items will increase by 1%
- Charges on a reforged item will increase by +5 charges
Resource Collection
Resources will appear physically on the ground in all frontier zones. The “active” RvR zone will have more abundant resources compared to other zones. Resources can be looted by right-clicking them for 5 seconds (you must be out of combat and standing still). A reforge order will require 5 of each realm’s resources to start the reforging process.
Types of Resources:
- Alb - Highland Lumber

- Hib - Verdant Fiber

- Mid - Runic Ore

You may carry a maximum of 5 of each resource type in your inventory at any time.
Once you collect resources from the frontier, you can use them by either turning them in to a keep to reforge an item, or by turning them in to a supply camps to generate supplies.
The upper-left-hand area of our reforge UI will track how many resources you have in your inventory.

Goals of the Resource Collection System
This system is designed to create:
- A meaningful progression path for upgrading and customizing items through keep ownership and defense
- Organic, dynamic RvR fights centered around contested resources, roaming collectors, and turn-in points
- More activity in frontier zones by designating “active” zones that will likely have more people adventuring through them
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What happens if the keep is taken while my item is actively reforging?
A: All reforging progress is reset to 0%. Any active resources are lost and added to the capturing realms forge upon capture. Your original item remains dormant in the forge and is not lost. You may remove the item from the forge at no cost once the keep is captured by your realm, or you may restart the reforging process once the resources are replenished.
Q: Are reforged items tradeable?
A: No. Reforging an item will make the item non-tradeable. However, reverting the item back to its original state will allow it to be tradeable, as long as it was originally eligible.
Q: Are resources tradeable?
A: Yes, but you can still only carry 5 per type in your inventory.
Q: Are resources able to be placed in a vault?
A: No
Q: Can I strip reforged items of their custom stats to revert the item back to its original form?
A: Yes. You can revert an item to its original state at the cost of resources by using the forge.
Q: Can I cancel an item that’s actively being reforged?
A: Yes. You may cancel your reforge at anytime and it will be returned to your inventory in it's original state. However, resources and investments are not refunded and are permanently lost.
