Loot, Templating & Patterns

Loot

notion image

All loot on Blackthorn has been reworked by hand.

Old items have been improved, new items have been created.
If you find loot that existed in the original game at 1.65, please feel free to make a report so we can ensure all the original loot is present.
RoGs only exist in Thidranki, through the Orbs system and in the frontiers, if you kill mobs in frontier that is not your own. RoGs will not be viable for end game templates. They only exist in these limited areas to provide some gear that would otherwise be unobtainable due to Thidranki’s bolster system or because enemy frontiers only have items for that realm’s inhabitants.

Templating

notion image

Blackthorn loot has been designed to make templating accessible before hitting level 50.

This is done through farming jewelry with the stats that you prefer and combining that with spellcrafted crafted items.
The maximum stats added are:
  • +26% resists
  • +75 stats
  • +200 HP
  • +25 power
  • +11 Skills
As mentioned above, there are no RoGs that play a role in the templating process, so every template is sharable among friends and realmmates.

Alchemists have access to an expanded array of procs and charges so that loot with unique charges and procs is minimized.
Armor drops can have up to one charge, and one reactive proc added to them, but any existing proc/charge cannot be replaced. For example if you find an armor piece with a reactive proc already on it, you will be able to add a charge to that armor as well.
Crafted items can still only have either one charge, or one proc added to them.

This helps players to be competitive in RvR by completing their basic template.

However, on Blackthorn there will be a second stage of gear progression which will be handled by Patterns.

Patterns

notion image

Patterns are a uniquely custom system that allows players to impact their gear in several ways:
  • Increase or decrease the swing speed of their weapon
  • Increase the potency of their procs and charges
  • Boost the level of an item to 51
  • Boost the quality of an item to 100%
  • Apply a glow effect to a weapon
  • Apply a new skin model to a weapon or armorpiece

These patterns can be obtained from the Bounty Point Merchants, or from various sources through drops, quests and events.
Tip!
Look for named mobs, especially in the Frontiers and Darkness Falls!

They are classified as follows ranking from least to most rare:
  • Common
  • Rare
  • Exceptional
  • Legendary

Not all pattern types have all these gradations, some only are Rare at most.

How to use a pattern?

To use a pattern you must follow the following steps:
  1. Place the item you want to use the pattern on in your inventory.
  1. Right-click the item and select CRAFT
  1. Now place the pattern into the trade window and make sure the Combine toggle is turned on
  1. Press accept. You pattern should now be applied!

Proc and Charge patterns give you a % chance for a successful upgrade. All other patterns always apply when eligible.

In the case of Skins and Glow effects, combining a pattern with an eligible item will spawn an NPC that is visible only for you.

Navigate the menu to select your skin or glow and confirm. This should grant your armor or weapon a brand new look!
