Multi Spec

Overview

The Multi Spec System allows your character to maintain up to three completely independent specializations, making it easy to switch between different playstyles without constantly respeccing.
Each specialization stores its own unique configuration, including:
  • Career (skill) Specialization
  • Realm Abilities (RAs)
  • Quickbars (Qbinds)
  • Doublebinds
  • UI Layout
  • And other character-specific settings
This means you can maintain entirely different PvE, PvP, solo, group, or experimental builds and switch between them whenever you need.

How Multi Spec Works

Switch between your saved specializations with:
  1. Type /spec show | list | info to show you the details of your specs
  1. Type /spec swap to switch to your other spec.
This command will log out your character and drop all buffs you have. Log back in to complete the process.
By default, swapping between your multi specs costs 25 gold per switch.
For example, you can swap:
  • Spec 1 → Spec 2
  • Spec 1 → Spec 3
  • Spec 2 → Spec 3
Each swap normally costs 25g unless free swaps have been unlocked.

Unlocking Free Swaps

Second Specialization

Hand any Respec Stone to your class trainer to permanently unlock free swaps to and from your second specialization.
Once unlocked, swapping between your primary and second spec no longer costs gold. The respec stone will be consumed in this process. It can be either a skill or RA respec stone, it doesn’t matter.

Third Specialization

A third specialization can be unlocked through the Realm Loyalty system.
Like the second specialization, swapping to or from your third spec initially costs 25g per use.
To permanently remove this cost, hand another Respec Stone (any type) to your class trainer.

Limitations and Considerations

Realm Abilities

  • Each specialization has its own independent Realm Ability build.
  • Realm Ability cooldowns are shared across all specializations to prevent players from gaining additional uses of timed abilities by swapping specs.
  • Realm Ability cooldowns only progress while you are online and have that Realm Ability trained.
  • To avoid requiring players to remain logged in indefinitely, all Realm Ability cooldowns automatically expire after 4 hours, regardless of whether you are online.

Spec Swapping

  • Changing specializations requires logging out and back in.
  • Specs cannot be swapped during active gameplay.
  • All active buffs are removed when changing specializations.

Character Binding

  • Multi Specs are stored on a per-character basis.
  • Specializations cannot be transferred between different characters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can each spec have different Realm Abilities?
A: Yes. Each specialization has its own independent Realm Ability build.

Q: Can I bypass Realm Ability cooldowns by switching specs?
A: No. Realm Ability cooldowns are shared across all specializations.

Q: Can I buff myself in one spec and keep those buffs after switching?
A: No. All active buffs are removed when you change specializations.

Q: How many spec slots can I have?
A: Every character starts with 2 spec slots. A 3rd slot can be unlocked through the Realm Loyalty system.

Q: How do I respec an individual multispec specialization? For example, say I am a Wizard spec’d 50 fire on multispec2, but I want to change multispec 2 to be 50 Earth. How do I do that?
A: Each multi spec is respecced independently using the normal respec rules. Respecs are free during the first 24 hours of each level; afterward, a respec stone is required.

Q: Does my equipment change when I switch specs?
A: No. Only your specialization, Realm Abilities, keybinds, and UI settings change.

Q: Can I switch specs anywhere?
A: Yes. You can initiate a spec swap anywhere, though the logout process follows the normal logout rules for your location.

Q: What happens if I disconnect during a spec swap?
A: Your character data is protected. If the swap is interrupted, simply log back in to verify it completed successfully.
