Leveling QOLs (PVE)

Gear Related:

Old items have been improved, new items have been created. We are trying to recapture the fun aspects of named loot drops without the tedium barely scrapping by with updated gear as you level.

/dig

After killing a mob, move to where it died and type /dig to see a list of all of the possible (non-trash) loot that the mob could drop. This will help you determine if a camp of mobs drop armor and weapons appropriate for you, should you be looking to upgrade.

Adventurer

In every town there is an Adventurer. Talk to this NPC and they will tell you where you can find upgrades to your gear that have fallen behind in level.

Named Mobs

Named mobs have a smaller loot pool, but a much higher chance of dropping loot. Additionally, killing a named mob will spawn a chest that can offer you more loot options.
TODO: Clarify above, this feature’s specifics may be tweaked before updating wiki

Crafting:

Crafted items (below level 45) gain experience as they are used. As they level they will increase in quality and level. When they reach they maximum (4 ranks), they will get a random stat bonus. See the main Crafting page for more detail.

XP Related:

Our aim is to enhance the leveling process by adding reasons to explore the world. Many of the features below reward you for going off the beaten path.

Crafting:

Both crafting and enhancing items can reward you with XP. See the main Crafting page for more detail.

First Time Kills

The first time you kill a particular mob, you get a bonus to the XP. A normal mob will give you 2x the XP, a named mob will give you 5x the normal XP. Clicking on a mob will tell you if you haven’t killed it before.

Exploration Kill Items

These items, called “Echo of <Zone>” can be consumed for XP. The chance of one of these items dropping increases the longer it has been since the mob was killed by any player. Each level, a player can only gain half their level’s worth of XP from these items.

Additionally, echoes will only drop from the least killed enemies within any given zone to serve as a reward for those who tread off the beaten path. Using the /dig command will allow you to see if a mob is currently qualified for echo rewards.

Rested XP

Each character builds up a rested buffer that can increase XP, BP, RP, or bonus to crafting speed by 50%. Your rested buffer reaches 100% after not logging in for 7 days. Gaining any of these things will use some of your rested buffer.

Exploration points

Certain areas in the world grant you experience for discovering them. Some are in hard to find, or reach places.

Quests

Quests serve to direct you to mobs that are close to your level. The quest system is currently undergoing a large revamp. TODO: Redirect to its own page if one ends up existing.

Zone Bonuses:

Players gain extra XP bonuses the following areas.
  • Mainland Dungeons: 10%
  • Thidranki: 10%
  • Frontier Zones: 20%
  • Frontier Dungeons: 25%
  • Darkness Falls: 30%

Other:

We have made other changes to make the leveling and PVE experience more interesting.

Positional Styles

In PVE, even as a solo is it possible (with practice) to land positional styles against mobs.
